Genuss

Und überhaupt, was isst Du so?

Man ist was man isst

Sondern: Eine frische rote Beete.

Meat is my vegetables. Well, not really. Funny pic, isn’t it ?! No, that’s not a Bratwurst but it’s a vegetable. You know which one? Okay, to be honest, I love salads and vegetables like every woman. Only, in today’s hype about vegan diet and smoothies I’m somewhat restrained. Already in my childhood I had been instructed by my mother with health foods, whole grains and growing sprouts. The more I am pleased that this is now fashionable and even at discounters you get the ingredients (if my favorite farmer at the route 455 in #Wiesbaden should be on vacation). Yes, I know, you should buy Demeter or bio quality, but… I don’t care. So far we have been more exotic, if you have cooked with parsley root and beetroot. Most only know this cooked in a glass at the supermarket.

Good thing I had previously met some beet recipes in the NDR broadcast. Beets have very important ingredients and also I’ve learned something new in the show: Carpaccio! From raw beet roots! Here is the recipe (for 4 persons) from Tarik Rose from the NDR broadcasting:
Ingredients : 2-3 tubers (about 400 g) yellow or beetroot, 1 apple, 6 tablespoons apple juice, 2 tablespoons barberries (I did not knew this before, too), 1 tsp apple syrup, 2 tablespoons canola oil, some sunflower seeds, salt and pepper.

Please wash the apples, quarter and thereby remove the core and dice the flesh finely and mix with apple juice and barberries, add oil. Wash, peel and slice into very thin slices of beetroot. Arrange the slices on a plate and drizzle the dressing on it. Slightly fry sunflower seeds in a pan and sprinkle over the carpaccio. Even salt and pepper – and enjoy vegetarian. Yummi, delicious!

Forever Young! With the new year, although I have not made any intentions, but a little bit… It’s smoothie time. I collect the herb of beautiful carrots, kohlrabi and celery now and mix it with the new mixer to make delicious vegetable drinks. Next week, I will join the smoothie challenge of www.gruenesmoothies.de. Did you know, that the green of carrots is so healthy and contains a lot of good ingredients such as vitamin C? Either separately scattered as smoothie or like parsley on the carrots. You are what you eat.

Anyway, what do you eat? I eat lots of vegetables now. Okay, for antiaging botox or hyaluronfiller works even faster and more intense. That is right, but this is not my way. Many bloggers at my age report about their visits to the beauty doc and also friends of mine „had something done“. My opinion: Life is too short to actually allow such experiments. I rely on sports, yoga and on face gym „Callenatics“ and lust for life. Well, and as I said, good food.

Pure vegetarian diet does not fit for me. I love burgers and steaks, but also I am interested in many old varieties of vegetables and herbs and discover them again. Instead buying exotic fruits such as mango, papaya or grapes from Chile, I rely on regional vegetables like beetroots, apples and potatoes. Delicious and healthy!

P.S.: Hard to believe, but the „thing“ on the photo is neither a sausage nor an eggplant, but a fresh beetroot.
